A tale as old as time, Verity and Gareth’s spring wedding was inspired by a favourite Disney film…
THE PLANNING
We had to postpone our wedding twice due to Covid. We ended up getting married two years later than planned. We were very lucky and managed to just pick the wedding up and move everything to another date, including our suppliers.
THE DRESS
I tried on ten dresses in different styles, but my dress was the first one I tried on and I secretly knew it was the one. My mum and my Maid of Honour said that I stood completely differently in my dress and that it was definitely the one.
THE VENUE
I have always wanted to get married at Eastwell Manor since I was little. It just always seemed so regal.
THE THEME
We went for a subtle Beauty and the Beast theme. I am a Disney girl and had to really restrain myself from going over the top. We chose red and white roses for our flowers and our cake was white with gold detail, which was all on theme.
THE CEREMONY
I was super nervous, mainly about messing up the vows. Gareth cried as soon as he saw our son, Maximilian, walking down the aisle with my mum as he was the ring-bearer. However, when I was up there with Gareth, all my nerves vanished.
THE RECEPTION
When we were introduced as Mr and Mrs Gill for the wedding breakfast, it was such a surreal moment and felt amazing. The speeches were hilarious and moving; my dad even got a bit teary eyed during his speech. I also spotted Gareth’s sister, Hayley, crying during Gareth’s speech, which made me tear up. Chris, the best man, did a wonderful job and really pulled it out of the bag. I was so proud of the three of them and all the lovely, funny things they said.
THE FIRST DANCE
We chose Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley for our first dance. Gareth proposed in London and when we were on our way to the London Eye we passed a busker, who was singing this song. We decided then that it was going to be our first dance song, and we stayed true to our word.
